Rod Carew, Hall of Fame Baseball Great, is once again joining with PCRF this year in hosting the 14th annual Rod Carew Children’s Cancer Golf Classic.
We invite you to join us in our efforts to end the suffering of children and their families who are afflicted with cancer.
The Golf Classic will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 at Coto de Caza Golf Club. The format for Monday’s play will be single fight with a shotgun start beginning at 10:30AM. A reception and silent auction will immediately follow tournament play and a dinner and live auction will be held at 6PM.
We look forward to your participation and contribution. As in past years, the 2009 event promises to be memorable. We invite you to join us in our effort to increase proceeds for children’s cancer research by subscribing to one of our sponsorship levels.
The Course
This year’s tournament will be held at the beautiful Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club, located in the heart of Coto. The Club features two championship 18-hole courses designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The challenging North Course measures over 7,000 yards from the championship tees and offers subtleties a golfer could play to the end of a career and never tire of. The South Course places an emphasis on driving accuracy and fitness, but is playable for every caliber of golfer.
All Proceeds from the Rod Carew Golf Classic benefit the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.
About PCRF
Since the establishment in 1982 as a grass-roots organization, PCRF has focused its efforts to improve the care, the quality of life, and the survival rate of children with malignant diseases. The founders, comprised of parents, physicians and community leaders, joined forces to begin support of laboratory research that would translate into immediate treatment for children with cancer. Since 1982, the dedicated volunteers of PCRF have raised over $22 million for pediatric cancer research. In 2008, PCRF funded over $1.2 million for cancer research laboratories locally in Southern California as well as nationally:
• City of Hope National Medical Center
• Children’s Hospital of Orange County
• Childrens Hospital of Los Angeles
• Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA
• Children’s Hospital of New York at Columbia University
