On Thursday, October 22, 2009, First Candle will hold its premier charity gala at Tribeca Rooftop in New York City. We’ve planned a spectacular and glamorous evening that will include cocktails, dinner, dancing and an outstanding silent auction.
Proceeds from the Gala support First Candle’s ongoing mission to ensure that all babies celebrate their first birthday and many happy birthdays beyond. Our focus is the battle against Stillbirth, SIDS and Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID). The health and safety of our nation’s infants is a cause I’m most passionate about. In 2004, my first child, Fiona, was stillborn.
Please take the time to explore our site and learn about First Candle, the Gala, and our amazing honorees this year.
History of the Gala | First Candle Charity Gala 2009 | Helping Babies Survive & Thrive
In the spring of 1998, two SIDS parents, along with a group of committed volunteers and advocates, held the very first Windflower Ball, a fundraising event that supported programs in the area of SIDS research and education.Beginning in 2004, the Windflower Ball was hosted by First Candle to benefit First Candle’s key programs of public and professional education, research, advocacy and family support services.
This gala event brings together a distinguished array of individuals, corporations and health professionals with a common goal – a future where all babies survive and thrive.
