With the unforgettable backdrop of New York City, First Candle produced a most memorable charity gala at the TriBeCa Rooftop, a gorgeous venue in the heart of the lower Manhattan neighborhood as luminaries clogged the street below with their towncars. The evening of cocktails, dinner, dancing and a silent auction was to increase awareness of First Candle’s ongoing mission “to ensure that all babies celebrate their first birthday and many happy birthdays beyond.”
First Candle’s focus is the battle against Stillbirth, SIDS and Sudden Unexpected Infant Deaths (SUID). Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) continues to be a phenomenon of unknown cause and, despite marked reductions in rates over the past decade, still is responsible for more infant deaths in the United States than any other cause of death during infancy beyond the neonatal period
