ABOUT OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER:
Although Gil Garcetti spent 32 years in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and 8 years as the elected District Attorney, much of his life has been spent as an urban photographer.
Named by American Photo as one of the country’s four Master Photographers, Garcetti is an ambassador for the often invisible and underreported global water crisis. His passion for the life-changing difference that clean water can make is powerfully represented by his philanthropic contributions and his body of photographic work on the subject of clean water.
Gil Garcetti’s current photographic book project, Water is Key, (October, 2007, Balcony Press) is about safe water, health, and the empowerment of women in West Africa. Through his photography and interviews with villagers in Niger, Mali, Ghana, and Burkina Faso, Gil brings focus and world attention to the issue of safe water.
Women of Vision shares Gil’s passion, specifically in how clean water can dramatically improve the health and well-being of women and children as well as expanding their economic potential. We hope you will join with Women of Vision in our efforts to address the issues of women and children world-wide, including safe water. Working together to address these issues, we can significantly improve the living conditions and overall health of women and children thoughout the world.
More than 400 Women of Vision and their guests are expected to attend this very successful event.
